How gentle God’s commands!

Come, gracious Spirit, heavnly Dove,
With light and comfort from above;
Be Thou our Guardian, Thou our Guide,
O’er every thought and step preside.

Sun of my soul! Thou Savior dear,
It is not night if Thou be near;
Oh, may no earth-born cloud arise
To hide Thee from Thy servant’s eyes.

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Full of glory, full of wonders, Majesty Divine!
Mid thine everlasting thunders, how Thy lightnings shine!
Shoreless ocean, who can sound Thee?
Thine eternity is round Thee, Majesty Divine!

Jesus, to Thee our hearts we lift;
May all our hearts with love o’erflow
With thanks for Thy continued gift
That still Thy precious name we know,
Retain our sense of sin forgiven,
And wait for all our inward heaven.
